This heat exchange unit is designed to warm honey, without overheating, so the wax and foreign materials can be easily removed. This is the first heat exchanger design that we are giving our approval and recommendation. Of the many units in the field for use in the past years, this has proven to be the most successful and satisfactory for the operator. The unit consists of tubes inside a pipe which the honey is pumped through, and circulating hot water inside the large pipe, transfers the heat to the honey. All tubes are removable in the event one may become damaged.

The honey and cappings are metered into the tubes by a "cutaway-revolving disc," which eliminates channeling and dead pockets. This disc is driven by a 115 Volt, 4 amp, 1/4 HP reduction gear motor, through a slip clutch, which is a safety factor, in the event any pieces of wood or nails are allowed to enter the unit. The drive shaft has a seal to insure against honey leakage at this point. The unit is equipped with a manifold on each end for easy removal to clean or inspect. The end plates, revolving disc, and manifolds are of aluminum material.

This unit is very compact, being only 12 inches wide, 19 inches high, and 14 feet long. It can be suspended from the ceiling, a wall, or supported from the floor. There are only 4 connections: a 2" pipe for the honey in, and a 2" pipe for the honey out; a I" pipe for the circulating water in, and a I" pipe for the water out.

The heat exchange unit consists of 30-7/8" by 12 ft. stainless steel tubes inside an 8" aluminum pipe having more than 11,870 sq. in. of heat transferring area. This allows the user to heat approximately 3,000 lbs. of honey per hour to the desired temperature for best results in clarification without melting wax. This unit is recommended for use with the spin float honey wax separator and will handle up to 3,000 lbs. per hour. Shipping weight is approximately 500 pounds.
